The event will be located at MacDonald Park on Queens Blvd & 70th Avenue, and will run from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The trees below available in the first hour of the event. Please note: reservations are only valid for the first hour of the giveaway, so more trees will be available first come, first served at 2:00 PM.

Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipefera) - 8/40 trees will be available during the first hour of the event first come, first served.
The Tulip Tree is a large; ornamental tree reaching 60' - 100' tall and 30'-50' wide, and is moderately difficult to maintain. This tree grows at a fast rate, growing as tall as 35'-55' in 20 years, and reaches its mature height and width after 50-70 years. This tree requires full sun; partial sun or partial shade and occasionally wet; well-drained soil.

Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) - 22/90 trees will be available during the first hour of the event first come, first served.
The Black Walnut is a large; shade; nut tree reaching 50'-70' tall and 50'-70' wide, and is difficult to maintain. This tree grows at a moderate to fast rate, growing as tall as 30'-50' in 20 years, and reaches its mature height and width after 30-50 years. This tree requires full sun and well-drained soil.

Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) - 10/35 trees will be available during the first hour of the event first come, first served.
The Eastern Redbud is a small; ornamental tree reaching 20'-30' tall and 25'-35' wide, and is easy to maintain. This tree grows at a moderate rate, growing as tall as 30'-50' in 20 years, and reaches its mature height and width after 20 years. This tree requires full sun; part sun/part shade and occasionally wet; well-drained soil.

River Birch (Betula nigra) - 12/50 trees will be available during the first hour of the event first come, first served.
The River Birch is a medium; multi-stemmed tree reaching 40'-50' tall and 25'-35' wide, and is moderately difficult to maintain. This tree grows at a fast rate, growing as tall as 25'-35' in 20 years, and reaches its mature height and width after 30-50 years. This tree requires tree grows in part shade/part sun; full sun and well drained; extended flooding soil.



What will I have to agree to if I want a tree?
  • I will plant my tree in the ground and care for my tree according to NYRP guidelines.
  • I will plant my tree in the ground on property I have permission to plant on that is within the 5 boroughs of New York City.
  • I grant NYRP and Four Borough Neighborhood Preservation Alliance rights to take and use photos and videos of me and all parties that come to the event with me, including minors, without compensation.
  • The information I provide can be shared by NYRP with Four Borough Neighborhood Preservation Alliance for follow up about your tree and outreach.
